Under the guise of a family outing to create art with me, we were able to bring together members of both their families. I created a design template that everyone worked with to make the image. When we were just about finished I told Blake and Ania to walk to the overlook to see it from above. As they walked up I quickly wrote in the words 'will you marry me?' in Polish (her ethnicity) plus a design of their interlocking initials. She was, of course, taken completely by surprise!
I love that we were able to create an experience for the whole family, not only as wonderful way for them to spend time together, but also as a symbolic gesture of the support Blake and Ania have in their new life together.
